This has always been a good mouse, but I know lots of people whose ball goes bad, gets gummed up or begins not responding properly. That being said, it is a very ergonomic mouse and it works well.
I really wish I could just remove it and take all that dirt out of there, but it is not possible, so what I do is turning the mouse upside down and spinning the ball around a clean sheep of paper - this is a trick I found on the internet. The right button is a way too unreliable - I was missing it all the time until I reassigned its functions to the center button. Now this problem is more or less solved, even though I miss the simplicity of the standard mouse.Cleaning the trackball is a nightmare. Well, it works for few hours, then I have to do it again. Very annoying.
i got home and few minutes later it did not work again. I have had this mouse for over one year and it does not work any more. This mouse rather than being a tool it has been a real pain, I spend more time trying to fix it than working with it. I regret I did not return it immediately after i bought it. Since first days of use the mouse wheel started to fail, I took it to service with the sleek apple people and they clean it, it seemed to work well. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT. It is a shame that apple makes this very poor quality mouse.
I love this mouse. The programmable buttons are great, work like a charm. I love to use this mouse for with graphics software (i.e. adobe products, autocad).
I loved my Mighty Mouse for the first few months. but none that prompt you to do anything else, i.e. I understand that products stop working from time to time. Then came the day when my mouse stopped working -- the arrow would jump all over the page and there would be random instances of scrolling. Logitech, for example, offers great customer support and will replace a faulty product. Annoying enough if you're just browsing websites but if you're trying to get any graphics work done.forget about it. The only issue I had was that the batteries seemed to need replacing more often than with my Logitech wireless mouse. getting it replaced.
I was astonished to learn that the Mighty Mouse has no support from Apple. There are several articles that tell you how to clean the scroll ball (apparently quite the issue). But, when you spend $100 on a mouse you expect it to last more than a few months. I won't be buying anymore peripheral products made by Apple.
